The Cove at Joy Church Mt Juliet

Building a beautiful new outdoor living space for Joy Church

At Master’s Landscape Design, we love living, working, and attending church in the Mt. Juliet, TN area. It’s a beautiful, scenic town with so much to offer! Our owners attend Joy Church, and when we were approached about their new space, The Cove, we were thrilled to create a beautiful new outdoor living space for them to host church and community outreach events.

Learn more about this project here and the elements we built for this local worship center. We built the project for them at cost, donated a grill to the church, and gas elements for the fire pits were provided at cost by Merryman Farr.

Designing the space & preparing the land for new fire pits, pergolas, & more

The first step in any project we plan is to create a 3D design so the customers can view the area and approve it before installation begins. Once the design was approved, our team began leveling and grading the section. Elements we wanted to add to this project included:

The patio is over 4200 square feet, so a large area of land needed to be prepared to ensure their new space was level. We also prepared for the installation of a rock fountain that welcomes people as they enter The Cove. The sound of running water will help to create a relaxing space.

Fire pits provide a warm gathering area for fellowship

At Joy Church, the congregation often enjoys times of fellowship and fun. This new space, The Cove, will give them an outdoor space to hang out together during the day and at night. The three fire pits we designed for them will only increase that fun time, as they can use them for warm gathering areas on a cool autumn night.

One fire pit is circular, with a rock seating wall around it. The other fire pit area is a larger seating wall surrounding two rectangular fire pits. The fire pits are gas-burning, meaning there won’t be smoke getting in anyone’s face, and the maintenance for these will be less than a wood-burning fire pit would have.

A custom outdoor lighting system helps illuminate the area for events held at the church in the evenings.

Wooden pergolas supply shaded Areas for cooking & serving food

The two 18′ x 30′ pergolas we installed will be perfect for summer afternoon church potlucks, as they can set up tables and chairs under one while serving food from the other pergola with two serving areas. One serving area has a countertop for food, and the other has a new gas grill that can be used for youth group cookouts or other church get-togethers.
